This is the first film in a while for Kunitoshi Manda, director of the fine Eiko Koike x Etsushi Toyokawa drama The Kiss (2007). It played at TOKYO FILMeX last year.
Synopsis: Takashi (Toru Nakamura) is a psychiatrist who runs a mental health clinic. Despite his wife Kaoru (Yuri Nakamura) being dead for six years, he is unable to move on and spends his days in deep sadness and self-medicating to control his mind. One day, Ayako Mizuno (Kiki Sugino) is admitted to his clinic as a patient. Their relationship goes beyond what is expected for a doctor and patient but Takashi cannot forget his wife which makes Ayako jealous…

Synopsis: A documentary about the Hokkaido-based rock band Bloodthirsty Butchers, who formed in 1987 but split up in 2013 following the death of one of their members. They were popular both in Japan and abroad. This documentary was produced in 2010 and released in 2011. It has been digitally remastered to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the film’s release, the 35th anniversary of the band’s formation, and the 25th anniversary of the release of the album “kocorono,” which gave the film its title.

Synopsis: Yoshimoto Kogyo and the city of Tamano in Okayama Prefecture teamed up to create an omnibus film based on people connecting over bicycle racing and bicycles. Shin Miyake, an active cyclist who is 52 years old and one of the highest-ranked S-class riders, gets his first film role portraying a veteran cyclist battling with anxiety over changes to the sport, others feature comedians who are fascinated by bicycles they discover on a beach or a woman from Tokyo getting into a relationship with a guy from Tamano.

This is based on director Fujii’s own stage play and partly on a real-life incident which he was involved with according to a review on Eastern Kicks.
Synopsis: The film takes place on the first day of a theatre company’s stage performance. There are over 200 people in the audience waiting for the show to start, however, an accident offstage leaves one of the actors in a critical condition and the performance on the verge of cancellation. This is when members of the troupe lock the doors of the theatre and threaten the audience, forcing them to watch. The film jumps back and forth between the build up to the play and these events in the theatre to show the pain and anguish that push the actors to take such extreme actions…
