I am continuing on with my festival work so have breezed past 500 films watched this year quite quickly.
V/H/S Beyond – some fine segments with a solid wraparound – nothing as grimy and nasty and unexpected as the first film, which really leaned into the snuff film aspect. Cuckoo and The Silence of the Lambs followed.
Organised Crime and Triad Bureau which features Hong Kong cop Danny Lee and flamboyant criminal Anthony Wong in an intense game of cat-and-mouse over a steamy summer. A top film!
I also watched House of the Dead, Diva in the Underworld, and Over the Garden Wall
What are the last of the films getting a release this weekend?

Synopsis: Yukihisa Fujimoto and Asako Kageyama have made numerous documentaries about Okinawa and the presence of US military bases. Their latest documentary looks at post-war Okinawa through the life of Yoshikatsu Yamashiro, a fisherman born in Okinawa during the Pacific War in Kunigami Village in the northern part of Okinawa’s main island.
After the war, the land and fields were taken by the U.S. military bases, and the sea became the easiest source of food for common people. During this time, Yoshikatsu developed a one-man “one-man fishing method,” in which he dived into the sea and drove a school of red drum into a net all by himself. As he grew up, various incidents occurred, including the Yumiko-chan incident in which a six-year-old girl was killed by an American soldier, the time when an F-100 Sabre crashed into Miyamori Elementary School and killed 19 people, the Koza riots, and the construction of the new Henoko base.
