Third Window Films will release a DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital edition of the “endless escape comedy” RIVER, the latest time-loop comedy from Junta Yamaguchi and the team behind Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes. They will come out on February 12th.

This is the second film from theatre company “Europe Kikaku,” the guys who came up with Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes. It is about a group of people staying at an inn near a shrine who realise that they are stuck in a two-minute time loop.

Synopsis: Mikoto works as a waitress at a century-old ryokan named Fujiya in Kyoto. She is standing in front of the nearby Kibune river when she is called back to work. Two minutes later, she finds herself standing next to Kibune again and realises that time is repeating and that she and the others at the inn, who are also stuck in said loop, keep their memories and so they work together to find the cause of the time loop.

After closing out 2023 with a series of revivals of older Japanese films, Third Window Films is starting out 2024 with a string of contemporary indie titles that began with MAD CATS back in January. In March, expect Tak (Re:Born) Sakaguchi actioner One Percenter, and Shinya Tsukamoto’s Shadow of Fire some time in the second half of the year.
