Third Window Films will release a Blu-Ray and digital edition of MAD CATS, an action comedy on January 29th.

MAD CATS is the debut film from CM/MV director Reiki Tsuno. Made on a low budget and shot over nearly two years, it is a fantastical story of killer cat people coming after hapless humans that combines slick action and some tongue-in-cheek humour.

Synopsis: Is this a bit of borderless action? We watch the adventures of Taka, a young man who goes on a search for his missing brother Mune. Along the way, he meets mysterious and dangerous people on the road – this includes the MAD CATS, a group of monster cats determined to execute unscrupulous pet shop owners. They soon have Taka in their sights thanks to his desperate attempt to spring his brother from their paws. What has Taka’s brother done? Why are monster cats after them? All will be revealed in this madcap road movie.As far as the Blu-Ray goes, it is an all-region release and it is let loose alongside its digital counterpart on January 29th.

After closing out 2023 with a series of revivals of older Japanese films, Third Window Films is starting out 2024 with a string of contemporary indie titles, of which MAD CATS is the first. Film fans can also expect another time-slip comedy from Junta (Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes) Yamaguchi with River, Tak (Re:Born) Sakaguchi actioner One Percenter, and Shinya Tsukamoto’s Shadow of Fire.
