I’ve been watching a lot of films and playing less video games. X-Com Enemy Unknown is a good game but it hasn’t got its hooks in me and I’m planning on doing some point-and-click adventures I played when they first came out in the 90s.
In terms of films, I have watched two Brditish horror films, The Appointment and The Shout. I also watched two Apichatpong Weerasethakul films: Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010) and Syndromes and a Century (2006). The latter two are for a recording of Heroic Purgatory. For my Halloween post, I’ve got a J-horror from the early 2000s lined up!

This film draws upon interviews with many people involved in sexual media and depicts their reality, most notably the struggles of working during a publishing slump caused by the rise of electronic media, the removal of adult magazines from convenience stores following the decision to host the Tokyo Olympics, and the effects of the spread of COVID-19.
Synopsis: A young woman named Shiori breaks into the magazine industry as she had always dreamed but it isn’t her ideal publication, a fashion magazine, but a publisher of erotica for men. Finding herself surrounded by salacious stories, saucy pics, and louche writers, editors, and more, it seems like a challenge but Shiori digs deep and develops an interest in erotica that she uses to hone her writing talent. Then she gets a really big challenge.

The story focuses on Kameda (nice pun) Kamero, a high school sophomore, who is at the bottom of the social ladder until something happens.
